Hello and welcome to this week’s Top5! 

I have struggled a little with things to include this week as there’s not really a huge amount going on. 

I have included some details about Foster Care Fortnight which starts on Monday. It’s not something I talk about very often, but as I am a foster carer outside of my payroll life, I do like to encourage people to consider becoming one. Take a look at the link below to find out a little more.

3. Guidance update: Apply for a Kickstart Scheme grant

Added that DWP may ask employers for their records to show how funding has been spent. Included information on how the funding is calculated for each young person. Also added that employers will receive an email telling them how to inform DWP about start dates or if someone leaves the job early.

4. Use of flexible hours at work has dropped during the pandemic while homeworking has soared, CIPD analysis finds

The CIPD urges employers to take more action to ensure people who can’t work from home can benefit from other flexible working options

While working from home has surged in recent months, the use of flexible working hours – such as part-time, flexi-time and compressed hours – has fallen over the course of the Coronavirus pandemic, according to new CIPD analysis.

5. Foster Care Fortnight 

Foster Care Fortnight is The Fostering Network’s annual campaign to raise awareness of the transformational power of fostering and to celebrate the fostering community.

Foster Care Fortnight 2021 will be taking place from 10-23 May.
